The federal government hasn’t yet passed the Gas Rebate Law of 2022 as of yet, however they are considering an idea, and some cities and states have adopted legislation in support of it. Inflation rebate checks aim to help people cope with rising prices. Although they are not a federally-funded program most of these rebates are issued by state governments based on surpluses. The federal government could consider this type of scheme for a practical way to combat the current high costs of fuel and other commodities.
Some states have tried to cut their gas costs as well as are considering reimbursements for residents.
