The federal government needs to think about such a program as an effective way to combat the current high prices for gasoline and other goods.
Some states have tried to cut their gas costs and are currently considering offering the residents of those states with refunds. Certain states, such as New York, are considering cutting the gas taxes completely or offering a tiny rebate. The governor also proposed tax cuts for renters or homeowners who pay gas tax over those at the national minimum. He even has proposed cutting the gas tax by one-half when the cost of non-leaded fuel reaches $4.51 per gallon during summer. A few political figures in New York state have also backed suspending the state gas tax of 33.3 cents per gallon.

Although the federal government is not in the process of implementing any type of stimulus package in the state legislature, lawmakers from the state and President Biden are putting forward various plans that will help consumers. These proposals include a three-month discount on gasoline taxes. At the time of writing, there’s nothing concrete to be examined by Congress. It will be some time before gas rebates begin for every state. Although President Obama has suggested a national gas tax holiday however, he’s been unable to find any law that would allow him to fund the holiday.
