However, a White House official says the Biden administration will not advocate for such a plan, since it is difficult to administer and require Congressional approval. A gas rebate card could offer a quick fix however, there are several issues that need to be solved before it can become something that is feasible for American customers.

The federal government has not implemented the Gas Rebate Act of 2022 as of yet, however it is looking at an option. In addition, some cities and states have put in place legislation for it. Inflation rebate checks aim to aid citizens with the rising cost of living. While they aren’t a federal program, many of these rebates are offered by state governments in surplus. Federal government officials should look into this as an effective way to combat the current high prices of gasoline and other items.

While the President has proposed that a national tax holiday on gas however, he’s yet to find any law that would allow him to fund it.
They’re controversial
Whatever the political stance of the idea the gas rebate cards are one of many instruments to help Americans combat the high cost of fuel. But they’ve also run into some resistance. Two months ago, House Democratic counsel had a negative view of the scheme, stating that it would lead to inflation, was too costly, and was not targeted enough. The plan was first announced by Senior White House aides raised concerns about the rebate cards due to of the lack of microchips.
