The federal government has not yet passed the Gas Rebate Law of 2022 as of yet, however it is looking at an idea, and some cities and states have implemented legislation in this regard. These rebates are intended as a way to help consumers cope with rising prices. While they aren’t a federal program most of these rebates can be issued by state governments in surplus. The federal government needs to think about this program as an effective method to counter the rising prices for gasoline and other items.
Some states have tried at reducing their gas taxes and are looking into offering cash back to citizens. Certain states, such as New York, are considering taking the gas tax off completely or offering a small amount of rebate.
