Some states, like New York, are considering eliminating the gas tax entirely or offering small rebates. The governor also proposed tax reductions for renters and homeowners who pay gas taxes over the federal minimum rate. He’s even proposed cutting the gas tax by fifty percent when the median price of unleaded gas reaches $4.51 per gallon during the summer. Certain politicians in New York state have also backed suspending the state gas tax of 33.3 cents per gallon.
These aren’t available in every state.
Although the federal government has not attempting to implement any kind of stimulus plan state lawmakers and President Biden have come up with various ideas to assist consumers.
