The federal government must consider such a scheme as an effective way to address the current high costs of fuel and other products.
Certain states have tried to cut their gas costs as well as are considering discounts to its residents. Some states, like New York, are considering stopping the gas tax entirely or offering a small rebate. Governor Bloomberg has also proposed tax reductions to renters and homeowners who pay gas prices at or above those at the national minimum.
