The federal government could consider this program as a feasible way in order to lower the prices of gas and other goods.

The governor also proposed tax reductions for renters and homeowners who pay their gas taxes over the federal minimum rate. Governor Brown has also proposed reducing the tax on gas by 50% when the average cost of unleaded fuel hits $4.51 per gallon during the summer. Certain politicians in New York state have also been in favor of suspending the state’s gas tax, which is 33.3 cents per gallon.

While the federal government has not intending to implement any type of stimulus package state lawmakers and President Biden have offered a range of suggestions for consumers. The proposals include a three-month time-frame for the holiday of gas taxes. However, as of late June there is nothing concrete being debated by Congress. It will take a few months before gas rebates start with all states. While the President has proposed a national gas tax holiday but he is unable to find an acceptable legislation to finance it.

Whatever the political stance of the idea it is one of the many tools to help Americans deal with the expense of fuel. However, they have already encountered some opposition. A couple of months ago, House Democratic counsel disapproved of the scheme, concluding the plan would cause inflation, was prohibitively costly, and wasn’t properly targeted.
