These proposals include a three month vacation on the gas tax. However, as of the end of June there was nothing concrete being considered by Congress. It could be a while before gas rebates start for every state. Although the President has been able to propose that a national tax holiday on gas however, he’s been unable to find any viable legislation to fund the holiday.

Whatever the political stance of the concept, gas rebate cards are one of the many tools to help Americans weather the cost of gas. But, they’ve had to face some opposition. Just two months ago House Democratic counsel condemned the plan, concluding that it would create inflation, was costly, and wasn’t well-targeted enough.
