Certain states have tried at reducing their gas taxes and are considering offering refunds to residents. Certain states, such as New York, are considering taking the gas tax off completely or offering a small refund. Governor Andrew Cuomo has also suggested taxes for renters as well as homeowners who have gas taxes at or above an amount that is higher than the federal minimum. He’s even proposed to cut the tax on gas by half when the cost of unleaded gas reaches $4.51 per gallon in summer. Some political leaders in New York state have also supported the suspension of the state gas tax, which is 33.3 cents per gallon.
