The federal government should take into consideration such a program as an effective means for tackling the current high price of gasoline and other items.
Some states have tried to cut their gas taxes as well as are considering refunds to residents. Some states, including New York, are considering suspending the gas tax altogether or offering a small discount. Governor Bloomberg has also proposed tax reductions for renters and homeowners that pay gas tax in excess of an amount that is higher than the federal minimum. While President Trump has suggested a national gas tax holiday but has not come across any legal way to fund the holiday.
