Governor Andrew Cuomo has even proposed cutting the tax on gas by one-half when the cost of unleaded fuel hits $4.51 per gallon during the summer. A few political figures in New York state have also been in favor of suspending the state’s gas tax, which is 33.3 cents per gallon.

While the federal government is not endeavoring to introduce any kind of stimulus plan in the state legislature, lawmakers from the state and President Biden have presented a variety proposals to aid consumers. These proposals include a three month fuel tax exemption. As of late June the proposal is not being contemplated by Congress. It will be some time before gas rebates start rolling out across every state. Although the President has been able to propose an annual gas tax holiday across the country but has not come across the right legislation to support it.
