However according to a White House official says the Biden administration will not push for such a plan, since it’s difficult to administer and require Congressional approval. A gas-reward card could be a good temporary fix, but there are several problems that need to be addressed before it becomes the reality of American customers.

The federal government hasn’t yet passed the Gas Rebate Law in 2022, however it is considering such the idea and some states and cities have already put in place legislation for it. Inflation rebates are meant as a way to help consumers cope with the rise in prices. Though they are not federal programs most of these rebates were issued by state governments from surpluses. The federal government needs to think about this program as a method in order to lower the prices of fuel and other commodities.
Certain states have tried to reduce their gas prices as well as are considering cash back to citizens. Some states, including New York, are considering abolishing the gas tax completely or offering a small refund. The governor has also proposed tax cuts for renters or homeowners who pay for gas at or above thresholds of federal minimum. He’s even proposed to cut the gas tax by half when the cost of unleaded fuel hits $4.51 per gallon in summer. While President Obama has offered an all-national gas tax holiday however, he’s been unable to find any legal way to fund it.
