A gas credit card might be a feasible solution in the short term However, there are several difficulties that need identified before it’s real for American consumers.

The federal government has not yet passed the Gas Rebate Law from 2022. However, it is looking at an idea, and some cities and states have already made laws for it. Inflation rebates are meant to assist citizens in coping to rising costs. While they aren’t a federal program the majority of the rebates offered are issued by state governments in surplus. The federal government could consider such a plan as a method in order to lower the costs of gasoline and other commodities.
Certain states have attempted at reducing their gas taxes and are considering offering tax refunds for their citizens. Some states, including New York, are considering suspending the gas tax altogether or offering a small rebate. Governor New York has also proposed tax breaks for renters as well as homeowners who are paying gas taxes at or above levels that are higher than federal minimum rates. These include a 3 month period of a gas tax vacation. As of late June there is nothing concrete being debated by Congress. It could be a while before gas rebates start to roll out in every state. Although the President has been able to propose that a national tax holiday on gas however, he’s yet to find any viable legislation to fund the holiday.
They are controversial
Whatever the political stance of the idea that gas rebate cards can be one of many ways to assist Americans get through the cost of fuel. But, they’ve already run into some resistance.
