These include a 3 month relaxation of the tax on gas. However, as of the end of June no concrete plan is currently being debated by Congress. It could be a while before gas rebates start to roll out in all states. While President Trump has proposed the national gas tax holiday however, he hasn’t found any viable legislation to fund it.
They are controversial
Whatever the political stance of the concept that gas rebate cards can be one of the many tools to help Americans weather the cost of gas. But they’ve also received some criticism. Just two months ago House Democratic counsel condemned the program, claiming that it could trigger inflation, was prohibitively costly, it wasn’t targeted sufficiently. Before that, some senior White House aides raised concerns concerning the rebate cards because of the dearth of microchips.
