The federal government has not come up with the Gas Rebate act of 2022 , however they are considering a plan, and some cities and states have implemented legislation in this regard. Inflation rebates are meant to help people cope with the increase in costs. Though they are not federal programs, many of the rebates offered are issued by state governments from surpluses. The federal government must consider this program as a way to tackle the high prices of fuel and other commodities.
A few states have tried in reducing their gas rates and are looking into offering the residents of those states with refunds. Some states, including New York, are considering taking the gas tax off completely or offering small rebates. The governor has also offered taxes for renters as well as homeowners who pay gas taxes in excess of what the Federal minimum.
