The federal government should consider this as a feasible way to tackle the high prices for gasoline and other items.
Certain states have attempted to lower their gas taxes and are considering offering the residents of those states with refunds. Some states, including New York, are considering suspending the gas tax altogether or offering a tiny rebate. The governor also proposed tax reductions for renters and homeowners who are paying gas taxes over that of the minimum federal rate. The governor has even suggested reducing the gas tax by 50 percent when the average price of unleaded fuel hits $4.51 per gallon during the summer. Some politicians in New York state have also supported the suspension of the state gas tax, which is 33.3 cents per gallon.
They aren’t accessible in all states
While the federal government isn’t seeking to create any sort of stimulus plan however, state legislators and the President Biden are putting forward various plans that will help consumers. These proposals include a three month relaxation of the tax on gas. But as of late June there is nothing concrete being examined by Congress. It will take a few months before gas rebates start to be offered to every state. Although President Obama has suggested the national gas tax holiday and has not yet found any law that would allow him to fund it.
